B&W: Floral prints

How to wear floral prints: Graphic B&W
B&W: Art Nouveau Flowers by Caroline Grant. Phase Eight makes several dresses in this shape and similar which are very flattering, but unfortunately, very bad quality, as I found to my regret after buying a Winnie (basically the same shape dress with a lovely rose pattern). I like patent leather for summer, it's less heavy for a black handbag than other options.
A figure-hugging dress in a jersey is perfect for Body type Bs. To keep my underwear unobstrusive with this kind of dresses by wearing some shapewear piece that goes from under the bra line and/or down my thighs. [Style: Modern Classic]

Phase Eight Samantha Dress / Mango Jacket / Lulu Guinness Black Patent Eva Handbag / J. Crew Viv Patent Flats / Aspinal of London Chain & Pearls Chain Scarf / Betteridge Trianon Ebony Cuff Bracelet / Amanda Pearl Gobstopper Ivory Earrings / NARS Semi Matte Lipstick in Heat Wave / NARS Nail Lacquer in Dovima.

Oriental Chrysanthemums
B&W: Oriental Chrysanthemums by Caroline Grant. B&W with an apple green handbag and really strong scarf. Black shoes, jacket, and bracelets keep it grounded. [Style: Ladylike with a Twist]

Linen Blend Floral Print Shift Dress / Mango Faceted Embellishment Jacket / Dooney & Bourke Janine Handbag / Ecco Lille Flat Shoes / Mango Bangle Bracelet Set / Marni Resin Earrings / Dorcas and Mopsa Titania Scarf / Yves Saint Laurent Lipstick in Rouge Vernis / Tom Ford Nail Lacquer in Scarlet Chinois.
Colour trends SS2013: Poppy Red
B&W: Watercolour Lilacs by Caroline Grant. Spring coats are a great mid-season option. A print coat is always a good buy if you can afford something that is not strictly a basic trench coat. The flowers make for a very busy print, so I have kept the rest basic colour blocks. [Style: Ladylike with a Twist].

Hobbs Zoe Dress / Weekend by MaxMara Elodia Floral Print Mac Trench Coat / Aspinal of London Hepburn Handbag / Geox Egizia Shoes / Carolee Lux Red Sea Bracelet / Amrita Singh Remsey Earrings / NARS Semi Matte Lipstick in Heat Wave / NARS Nail Lacquer in Dovima.

  1. Interesting, I bought that Winnie dress with the red roses but haven't worn it yet. Why do you think its badly made, they are not cheap? I was worried after I bought it that it was too old looking for someone of 59, but as you are younger I feel better now! I am a tall hourglass, but hate looking too dressy - so I like the flats you put with this black/white version of the same dress cut. Women my age often look as if about to go to a wedding if put on a dress, which I have a horror of looking like.

  2. Sorry it's taken me a while to answer, I was on holidays and I'm in the middle of two other projects...
It's not that the Winnie dress is badly made, it's actually very very flattering for an hourglass figure, it's the quality of the material. After wearing it a couple of times, it started peeling BIG time... I bought it three seasons ago, so maybe they have changed the material (though I doubt it). I don't know why they don't ever use silk jersey... L.K. Bennett does, for instance, or even a good quality polyester or thick viscose jersey as Hobbs does :(
Would you mind sending me a photo of you wearing the dress? I'd love to see how you style it! I'd would not be sharing it with anybody, of course, only now I'm curious ;)
