Warm weather options

Open-toed options like a pair of strappy sandals or peeptoes in satin or metallic leather are always a good investment that will be the answer to any special event needs when it's nice outside.
Satin shoes can be found in all price ranges. Check that they are well made (no puckering, no bubbles, no glue visible anywhere, no stains) and that they are comfortable, which means they should be made of leather inside. It could be a good idea to treat them with some kind of anti-stain product (like Scotchgard), though it will darken the surface slightly.
Choose a colour that matches exactly your outfit or contrasts greatly with it (think complementary colours), and black is always a classic option. Metallic leathers come in many different shades: silver, pewter, bronze, copper, gold. Choose the metallic colour that better suits your colouring.
Make sure you choose a wearable heel and think first about what you will be doing at the event (standing up or sitting down, dancing...) to choose your ideal heel height. Consider adding some kind of insole cushioning (Insolia, Dr. Scholl's pads), or even send them to the shoe repair store to have a professional fit them under the leather sole of your shoes.
